Curly haired Stevenson was a battler, but gave everything during his 34 games for the club between 1994 and 1997.

From Sandy Bay in Tasmania, Stevenson managed just 11 games for Fitzroy before being picked at 30 in the 1994 pre-season draft. Small but quick, Stevenson usually played on the ball or in defence, but loved going forward and kicking a goal.

Stevo will always be remembered for an incredible goal out at Waverley in Round 11 1995. Although Hawthorn were well in control against the Swans, a spate of injuries, including one to Jason Dunstall, meant an injured Stevenson was sent back into the fray. Despite having what turned out to be a broken ankle, he hobbled to the forward pocket, where his opponent decided to pay him a bit too much respect and not run off him.

Even more amazingly, the ball came down, fell off the back of the pack where Stevo kicked a memorable goal off the ground, earning a standing ovation from the crowd. The injury ended his season, but the goal will long be remembered.
